What a visit leaves behind.

What this site records about a visit, why, and what you can do about it.

What every visit records

  • Each request your browser makes: the page or file, when, how it went and how long it took, the site that linked here and any campaign tag in the link.
  • What the page reports while you read: the chapters you reach and how long you stay, how far you scroll, the sound mood you pick, the parts of the diagram you open, whether a form went through (never what you typed), and how smoothly the particle field ran on your device.
  • From your browser’s address: the country, region and city it belongs to, and the network you’re on — your internet provider or organisation.
  • Your browser, its operating system, language, screen size and kind of pointer.
  • No cookies. The only thing the site keeps in your browser is whether you’ve already seen the opening sequence in this tab.

Recognising browsers

If you visit from New Zealand or Australia — judged by your address and confirmed by your browser’s timezone — the page also makes a fingerprint of your browser: a code worked out from how it draws text and graphics, its fonts, graphics card, screen, language and timezone. It lets us see that the same browser came back, and how its visits connect.

Elsewhere, and for automated visitors, nothing is fingerprinted and a visit stays anonymous: the only link between its requests is a code that changes every day and can’t be traced once that day’s key is deleted.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, it isn’t fingerprinted, wherever you are.

A fingerprint stays with the records for as long as the site runs, unless you ask us to stop.

Your address

For browsers we recognise, we also keep the full IP address and its name in the internet’s reverse directory: it helps us match a returning browser and see which organisations visit. For everyone else only the network part is used, and then dropped.

The forms

What you send through a form goes straight to our inbox, and is used only to reply (Contact) or to send progress updates (Signal).

If your browser is recognised, the message also carries a short reference, so we can see how you found us and what you read before writing.

Your choice

Stopping removes the fingerprint and every stored address from all of this browser’s visits, and keeps its future visits anonymous.

With JavaScript on, this page shows this browser’s reference and a button to stop recognising it.

To see what we hold about a browser, or to correct it, write to hello@unia.ltd with its reference.
